Enjoying the Summer

Enjoying the Summer

Advertisement for Dolce & Gabbana

As part of a school project, I selected Dolce & Gabbana to be my client.  I present to my favorite piece of work from this long journey to create a campaign the perfectly suits Dolce & Gabbana and the direction I see it moving in the future (just a prediction).

A woman stands on the edge of a cliff off the Mediterranean Sea.

The camera will follow the woman.  When the diver has feet down towards the water.  The previous Dolce & Gabbana dress will fly off to show a dress from the new season that is being advertised.
As the women jumps the screen will turn black and white.

The camera will continue to follow the women falls into the water, feet first then back to create           ripples in the clear blue water.  The camera will follow the women up to the surface of the                   water. The women’s eyes will reach the surface, at that point the hue will change to red.
As the hue changes red, the sun sets behind the woman.

As a voice over:

       We are not here long.
Do not waste it being safe.
Dolce & Gabanna’s new Spring 2016 line is now available.

New New Sewing Project

Just a few weeks ago, I finished this dress.  I am in love with this fabric.  It is a ribbed stretch knit that I found at the warehouse.  I am in love with the warm colors,  It was not as difficult to stitch on the collar as I thought.  Not bad for no pattern.

I was inspired by this photo...

Sienna Miller wearing Celine Spring/Summer 2015

I paired it with red heels.  Because the dress is so long on me, hitting at mid-calf,  I  learned that for longer dresses and skirts it is important to wear heals to accentuate the legs.  I wore a brown leather belt around the waist and a long gold pendant.

Latest Makeup Obsession

Obsession is a good word to describe my latest fixation on makeup.
Between watching an obscene amount of make up tutorials and reviews, trips to the Dollar Store to update my stash (*Yes, I admit I am cheap*) and frankly never leaving the house without it.

I gave in to buying the new Maybelline Nudes Blushed pallet after hearing mixed reviews.
I also picked up the Hard Candy nudes pallet.
It was quite an adventure to get these. The Maybelline Nudes pallets were almost (there was one left) sold out at the two stores I had checked. I had even checked the second store twice.

I am pretty excited about these, surprisingly enough. I got both for 17 dollars.

How to Love Fashion When You Don't have Any Money: Part 1

Well for those of you who love fashion and dressing up, but have no money, Fear Not!
Like me, between paying for college and saving for an apartment, that means no extravagant shopping sprees.
Here are some tips to still love fashion and save some moola:

Numero uno:  Who says sewing is apart of the past?  I believe that a sewing machine is a great investment for life.  For about $150, you can get a lifetime of use.

Between mending garments, sewing new clothes, and any DIY projects a sewing machine will save you money and create a lifetime's worth of cool things.

Just in case you were not pursuaded by that.  Here are reasons why I love sewing:

  1. If you know exactly what you want, but cannot find it in the store.... BOOM.. sew it.
  2. A perfect fit, guaranteed!
  3. It has been a tradition of craftmenship going back for ages. (My grandmothers, my great-grandmother, and my mother were all superb sewers).
  4. Need a creative outlet and want the satisfaction of finishing a long project, in a world where nothing is ever truely finished, that you can show off to your friends, sewing is for you.
  5. Beautiful fabrics Galore!!
  6. Missing an essential piece something in your closet, sew it.
  7. Want to freshen up an old piece of clothing with lace or details, no problem!
  8. You will begin to really appreciate the beauty of designer quality.

Christian Dior Resort 2016

Resort Season is here!  Hopefully, one day, that will mean vacations to beautiful hotels in small towns off the coast in Greece, an apartment overlooking the Mediterranean in Nice or a nice tan at Miami Beach.
The Dior show was truly inspiring.  With an interesting set of cuts and designs with a terracotta color palette, Christian Dior Resort for 2016 was sure to amaze.
Here are some of my favorite looks:

The darts on the top are very interesting

The fabric is stunning and the techture is so cool.

The details are very compelling.  I love the netting overlay.
